How to Complete Document-Based Courses in the LMS

To successfully complete an online course that includes a document, please follow the steps outlined below. These instructions will help you understand how to navigate the system, complete all required components, and obtain your course certificate.

Accessing the Course

  • Log in to the User Portal using your username and password.
  • Navigate to the Course History section.
  • Locate the course. Document-based courses will display the following set of icons to the left of the course title.

Understanding the Icons

Pre-Test

A preliminary test, if applicable.

Document

Indicates access to the course document.

Evaluation

A survey or feedback form related to the course.

Post-Test

A final test required for course completion.

Certificate

Becomes available once all prior steps are completed.

 

Course in Progress

Below is an example of a document course in progress. Icons that remain red are pending; those that are green are completed.

  • Pre-Test – A modal window will appear displaying the questions to be answered. Please note that the results of this test are not used to determine course accreditation.

  • Document – The document course will launch in a new window with mouse functions disabled to prevent copying, downloading, or printing of the content.

  • Evaluation – A modal will open presenting general questions about the course, along with resource-specific questions related to each course material provided.

  • Post-Test – A modal will display the final course questions. The results of this test will count toward the certification requirements for the course.

  • Certificate – After completing all the required components, the Certificate icon will turn green, allowing you to print your certificate directly from the user portal.

Accreditation Requirements

To receive credit for a document-based course, the following conditions must be met:

  • The system must detect that the PDF document was downloaded.

  • The Evaluation must be completed (if included).

  • The Post-Test must be passed with the minimum score required by the system (if included).
